Genealogy Toolbox – Research Delivered

This week’s newsletter is focused on one topic – the newsreader. There are many useful genealogy blogs and online articles full of research tips and support. You could spend weeks keeping up with them all or you could add a newsreader app to your genealogy toolbox to have them delivered to your desktop or mobile device.

With a newsreader app you choose which online recources you want delivered to your desktop or device. For example, once you add the Ancestry Blog to your newsreader each new note, update or tip will be delivered to you within seconds. Once you view these articles, you can choose to keep them or to dump them. You’re in charge so you decide what to keep and what to delete.

Interested? Want to learn more? Download a copy of Research Delivered – An Introduction to Newsreaders. You will find the link to download the booklet just below the cover page shown here.

The time you spend getting adjusted to having news, stories and research tips delivered to your desktop will soon become a research tool that makes keeping up with all the research goodness being published daily a whole lot easier.

Final Notes

Each new post published at SAGS Support is automatically emailed to member subscribers and/or delivered to their newsreader. Research Notes is published every Monday morning and other articles are posted during the week. Subscribers have the option to control how often these updates are delivered. Look down at the bottom of this message and you will find a Manage Subscriptions link in the fine print as you see in this example. Click it and you will be taken to the WordPress.com Subscription Management page. Use the Delivery Frequency column to change your delivery options from “Immediate” to either “Daily” or “Weekly”.

Sample of the “fine print” at the bottom of each post.

Also down at the bottom of each delivered post is a Comment button. If you would like to comment on something discussed in a post or ask a question, just click the Comment button and you will be taken online to the comment section of the post where you can share your thoughts and read what others have shared.
