Saturday’s meeting was really something special! Not only did we have Margaret Nicholson’s presentation on making those DNA cousin connections, Mark Olsen from Family Tree Maker introduced us to the upcoming update and the new features that will be included. People came from far and wide to learn about the FTM updates and they got a good look at our society. As a result, we have several new members. Welcome! We are glad to have you.
It’s almost October – and Family History Month. It’s also the month we have our Family History Faire. The Faire is our member meeting for October. It gives our members an opportunity to show off the stories, photos, memorabilia and other things that keep our ancestors in our hearts.
Looking for display ideas for your family history? Not a problem! Stop by the Storytellers Studio on Tumblr. You will find plenty of ideas with new ones added regularly.
As a matter of fact . . . creating a blog with Tumblr is one of the easiest – and cheapest – ways to share your stories, photos and family treasures. Not only will it capture your family’s attention, it’s not unusual for distant cousins to discover you through your blog. Notice the icons at the bottom of the screen . . . When visiting a Tumblr blog you can use the “text bubble” icon (second from the left) to leave a message or ask a question. Your message/question is sent to the owner of the blog you are viewing.
