Join us Saturday at the Southeast Branch Library for the November member meeting. Doors open at 10:00am and the meeting will begin at 10:30. Judy Wright is our speaker this month and she will update us on Family Tree Maker. We will also complete the voting process for next year’s officers.

Internet Archive has added two new search features that will make it easier to find what you need in their archives. The first is called faceted filtering and it adds a number of checkboxes to your search to help you narrow the search by media types, topics and collections. The other is full-text search. When you check that option, the search feature will not only search the archive’s index but also the text within. Learn more at the Internet Archive Blog.

Military Memorial

A military memorial honoring family veterans.

Don’t forget that Friday is Veterans Day. This is the day we celebrate the men and women who have served and are serving our country as members of our armed forces. Memorials such as this are a great way to honor family members who served. This one celebrates a father who served in World War II and a grandfather who served in World War I. The flag draped the father’s coffin at his funeral.

SAGS members are encouraged to submit family stories, research tips and genealogy book reviews for the December issue of the Ancient City Bulletin. Does your family have a special holiday tradition, heirloom recipe or special decoration that links you to your ancestors? Send your stories to sags.publications@yahoo.com. Deadline for the December issue is Friday, November 18th.

Reminder for those who plan to attend our Christmas luncheon at Amici’s, menu selection and payment must be received no later than November 30th.
