Confederate Parole Index
The National Park Service provides access to Confederate Parole Index. The original records were generated at the end of the siege of Vicksburg, surrender terms negotiated between General's Grant and Pemberton allowed for the parole of the Confederate garrison. The Union forces did not have to contend with prisoners of war.

American Battle Monuments Commission
The ABMC is an independent agency of the U.S. government established in 1923 to honor the service and sacrifice of American armed forces. It manages 26 permanent military cemeteries and 31 federal memorials across 17 countries. These sites commemorate more than 200,000 fallen service members, primarily from World War I and World War II, through meticulous maintenance of graves, battle maps, and monuments.
